The Galaxy (Phase 3C) Development

A large-scale 16,000-seat arena, a 650-seat auditorium, 40,000 square metres of MICE space, and a 700-room Andaz Hotel, Macau. The user experience was an important driver whether they be a guest at the hotel, attending a rock concert or playing at the casino.

Flexibility and demanding specifications were developed to allow the various facilities to host multiple small and large scale events simultaneously. Design included structural separation of buildings and two rows of 20m high-performance (STC55) operable partitions.

Acoustic separation between the MFH and convention hall was critical as concurrent events were to be held. This was achieved by structural separation of the building and two rows of 20m height, STC55 operable partitions, these halls are required to open up to make a single space for exhibition when necessary. Reverberation controls, including for low frequencies, were implemented to cater for different types of events including rock concerts and sports.

Acoustic design of large multifunction exhibition and performance spaces.
