The Cornamaddy site is located approximately 2km to the northeast of Athlone Town centre in the County of Westmeath and is on the western side of the N55 national secondary route and has an area of 20.5 hectares.

A planning application for 472 residential units consisting of houses, duplexes and apartments, together with a small local centre on 14.6 Ha of developable land required a robust Noise Impact Assessment to support it.

Westmeath’s Noise Action Plan also required an inward impact assessment in accordance with BS8233 to ensure that residents were not subject to excessing noise inside the dwelling or externally.

Our noise and vibration impact assessment report included consideration of the Construction & Operational phases as well as Building Envelope Design. We used state-of-the-art computer modelling to predict façade levels as well as the noise impact on the existing neighbourhood. Our experience in building envelope design allowed us to predict the internal daytime and night-time levels to satisfy the planning authority’s requirements.

Large Residential Development schemes have particular planning requirements. We continue to work closely with the rest of the design team and planning consultants to present a best-in-class solution to the planning authority for future development phases .

Providing design advise and impact assessment for this 472-unit residential development.
