A planning application for the retention of noise making equipment on a retail premises was objected to by near-by residents adjacent to the site.

The local planning authority was initially presented with a flawed noise impact assessment from another consultant. Enfonic countered with a full BS4142 noise impact assessment, the results of which supported the noise nuisance complaint.

We revealed that not only did the site breach it's licensed limits, the proposed increase to the noise limits was unjustified and that the noise was tonal in nature.

The case was appealed and our report successfully supported the local authority's objection, which was eventually upheld by An Bord Pleanála. The retailer moved the noise sources to resolve the matter.
