Wind Monitoring

Wind Monitoring

Planning applications for small-scale wind turbine or large-scale wind farm installations require a noise impact assessment to be undertaken according to ETSU-R-97 The assessment and rating of noise from wind farms.

The ETSU-R-97 methodology essentially falls into two main sections; the assessment of the prevailing background noise level and the prediction of the noise levels from the turbines. By combining the results of these two, the environmental impact in terms of noise can be assessed.

It sounds simple but it’s a complicated process which isn’t surprising considering the nuances of acoustic assessments and the scale of the potential impact such developments may have on the community. This must of course be balanced with the desire to decrease our dependence on fossil fuels and meet emission targets.

Enfonic’s holistic solutions include Instrumentation Hire and SalesSurvey Service and Noise Prediction specialities.
